International Conference on “MSP for Advancing Sustainable Blue Growth”

Department of Oceanography at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) is excited to announce the upcoming International Conference on Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) for Advancing Sustainable Blue Growth, set to take place from 15 April to 16 April 2025 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. This conference aims to enhance sustainable ocean governance and marine ecosystem conservation through collaborative discussions and knowledge sharing in MSP. We strongly encourage government officials, policymakers, researchers, academics, industry representatives, NGOs, civil society organisation’s, local community advocates, and early career professionals involved in marine resource management, marine science, and spatial planning to share their insights and research.

GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is collaborating with the Department of Oceanography, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology to organize the conference.

Conference Themes:

We invite abstract submissions that address the following themes:

  1. Capacity Development for MSP – Initiatives and strategies to enhance MSP training and knowledge dissemination.
  2. Marine Conservation – Efforts and innovations for protecting and conserving marine biodiversity.
  3. MSP for Blue Economy – Exploring the role of MSP in bolstering economic activities that are marine-oriented.
  4. Application of Science for MSP – Scientific research and technological advancements supporting MSP.
  5. Institutional Arrangements for MSP – Frameworks and policies for effective MSP governance.
  6. Monitoring and Adaptation of MSP – Adaptive management practices in MSP monitoring.
  7. Open Source Data to Support MSP – Utilization of open data for informed MSP decision-making.

Abstract submission Details:

– Abstracts must be written in English.

– Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and use Times New Roman font (size 12)

– Include the author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and a valid email address.

– Specify the conference theme your abstract addresses.
